On Saturday and Sunday 04-05.06.2022 the BHC Lacrosse Juniorinnen competed for the 2022 Deutscher Meister. This would be the first Deutscher Meister since the start of the pandemic in 2019.
BHC Juniorinnen traveled to Frankfurt with 13 players who never competed in a prior championships. The girls got off to a rocky start dropping their first game on Saturday morning 17 to 11 to host SC Frankfurt 1880. The girls then regrouped and in a hard fought game came away with a victory over SG Dortmund/Dusseldorf/Mainz/Munster by a score of 9 to 5.
On championship Sunday the girls from BHC would need a little help from SC Frankfurt 1880 to reach the championship game. This help was delivered when SC Frankfurt 1880 beat SG Dortmund/Dusseldorf/Mainz/Munster by a score of 12 to 5. The stage was now set for a rematch between BHC Lacrosse U16 Girls and SC Frankfurt 1880 for the Deutscher Meister.
The girls from BHC opened the scoring with 3 goals before Frankfurt fought back with 2 goals ending the first period with a score of 3 to 2. BHC again started the second period with 2 goals to take control. Frankfurt again did not give up ending the first half of play 6 to 4 for BHC. BHC late in the forth period received a penalty and our girls played down 1 player for the last 5 minutes of the game. To the credit of Frankfurt they continued to fight hard and tied the game at 9 to 9 with 3 minutes remaining. The girls from BHC stayed calm and rallied for 2 goals and only allowed 1 additional goal by SC Frankfurt 1880. The final score was Berliner HC Lacrosse Girls 11 to 10 over defending champion SC Frankfurt 1880. The difference between Saturday and Sunday was the BHC girls defensive amazing effort holding Frankfurt to just 10 goals.
The Berliner HC U16 Juniorinnen Deutscher Meister held a small reception on Tuesday at the BHC restaurant where the BHC President offered his congratulations.
At the 2022 Berliner HC MVV on Wednesday 22.06.2022 the team will again be honoured as Deutscher Lacrosse Meister Juniorinnen U16 2022.
