Über uns

Deutscher Meister 2014

About us

German Champion 2014

For seven years, lacrosse has been a part of the Berlin Hockey Club, one of the best athletic clubs in Germany. After expanding and restructuring the club within the BHC umbrella, the men’s team has since placed 2nd and 3rd in the German championships of 2010 and 2012, respectively. Since 2010, BHC’s lacrosse team has finished as Eastern League champion three times (2010, 2012 and 2013), and has never missed a post-season appearance; remaining one of the elite teams nation-wide year-in and year-out. The team currently boasts two active national team members, with many others currently under consideration for the 2014 team, which will represent Germany at the next World Lacrosse Championships in Denver.

To go with its many accomplishments at the men’s level, BHC sports one of the most successful youth programs in Germany, with the boys U16 team currently defending back-to-back national titles from 2011 and 2012, and the U19 team boasting many past and current national team selections for participation in the World and European championship tournaments.

While the clear focus of the program is to generate national championship quality men’s teams, we also have a second men’s team, which is intended to attract new talent to the sport and help grow the game in Germany. Additionally, many of our „retired“ men’s team players continue to play the sport on this team at a more recreational level after their more competitive days are behind them. Despite its more relaxed atmosphere, our second team consistently performs at a high level within the Eastern League.

The BHC lacrosse team can trace its roots back to one of the most influential teams in the short history of lacrosse within Germany – Berlin VFK 1901. From 1997 to 2003, this team made seven consecutive final four appearances, with two national titles and six championship game appearances over that span.

Within the lacrosse club, which is the smallest faction of the BHC membership, every member is treated personally within a family atmosphere. As many of our players come to Berlin from other countries (USA, Canada, Finland, Czech Republic, etc.), both English and German are spoken within the team as needed.

We are always looking to add new faces to the team, so please do not hesitate to contact us via this form if you are planning on spending some time in Berlin in the near future.
